Weekend

Hello, my dear friends!  Thank you so much for your prayers! After I told you about my mishap, a few of you sent me messages and told me that you were praying. I really have felt prayed for! Thursday my ankle was better, and I was able to teach in church standing up. One of the ladies had brought me an ACE bandage, and the RN wrapped my foot. Such loving care! John says I spoke too long. I was speaking on how to search for the Lord's will when making decisions. I wish I could put a funnel in their ears and fill them up with my life's experiences walking with the Lord. Alas, that is not possible, so I end up talking too long, not that I lacked their attention. They are used to long winded teaching.

Friday, Yirardi's parents (the boy with brain cancer) took us out to dinner. We were hungry because I had been laid up for two days with a bag of ice on my foot. It was the first decent meal that we had. Yirardi's good appetite is back, PTL. He had a grilled fish dinner and ice cream for dessert. It is so nice to see him eating well and proud of his hair. His parents good sense of humor is back also. Keep praying for them.

John preached in both churches on Sunday. The attendance is down in the second church. We will find out what's going on this Wednesday when we meet with the pastor and his wife for lunch. Sunday night we had our couples meeting, but we did not have a Bible study since we needed to talk about our soccer event on Saturday. We had a good BBQ and pot luck. We really had a lot to discuss and stayed until 10:30. Please pray for the event and for Coach Mendez who is coming from near the border to Panama all the way to where we live, an hour from the broder to Nicaragua on Friday. I will put the rest of the prayer requests at the bottom.

There's always excitement at the home front. Our water heater went out. It started to leak Saturday, so John drained it and called Francisco (he is the man who got married last May). He came over with Luz, his wife, and while he and John worked on the water heater, Luz and I caught up with each other. (Penny, I gave her your present and Sunday night she had already polished her nails. Thanks) Today, Monday, John and Francisco are out hunting for a water heater, not an easy task since there is no Home Depot. I figure that the whole thing will take all day. I also went to see the doctor here. We have a clinic on site. She scolded me for not coming to see her sooner, but reassured me that my foot is not broken, a load off my mind.

Prayer requests:

  • Continue healing for my foot
  • Traveling mercies for Coach Mendez and the two professional players (non believers) who are coming with him
  • Safety for all participating in the soccer event
  • That all the men can get off work, be there early and get everything organized and ready on time.
  • Grace and wisdom for Coach Mendez as he teaches and shares his testimony
  • Open hearts and minds
  • That all the sound and video equipment will work. We haven't used the sound equipment in years
  • Wisdom for John and me as we counsel
Thank you for your prayers!
Coach Mendez

PTL!

We made it! Thank you for your prayers! 100 t-shirts, 35 rings and 25 cones. Our luggage was not checked, just as we prayed. Today we went to the Administration Office to get our car sticker and to take care of a few things. Then we went to buy gas. At the gas station, we met the pastor and his wife who just happened to drive up at the same time. From there we went grocery shopping and home. We spent the rest of the day unpacking and solving some Internet issues. We also got some phone calls from people who knew we were coming home.

Everything was nice and peaceful until just a few minutes ago when I decided to go back downstairs without turning on the lights.. I missed the last step, twisted my left ankle and fell. I heard it crack. I hope it is just a bad strain. I am sitting on the sofa with an ice pack on my ankle typing this. Please pray that my foot is fine tomorrow. I am teaching tomorrow night. The Lord is good. I know I will be fine. I was just looking at my last entry last August when I had just found out that my mother pased away. A little sprained ankle is nothing compared to that.

Until next time...from the beach...
