Doctor's Visit

We are really thankful for your prayers. John is much better, but we decided to go see the doctor today. There is an urgent care clinic here on the property, no appointment necessary; so this morning we decided to take advantage of the service. This place is huge, and we had to drive to the clinic, but it is just a five minute drive. When we arrived, we found the doctor sweeping the front entrance, which means that she had no patients. It is very windy and dusty this time of the year. She immediately went inside to wash her hands, and we went in to see her. She said John´s lungs sounded congested; therefore, she gave him a shot of antibiotics on the rear :) and prescribed oral antibiotics and an expectorant. She called in the pharmacy with the prescription and it was delivered to our condo in 20 minutes. The whole thing took less than an hour and $70. If John doesn't feel better in five days we have to go back because it may turn into pneumonia. Please pray that the medications work, and that he gets his energy back by Saturday, since we have our first meeting with the couples.

Last night our friend whose house we use for the meetings came over to bring us our local cell phone. We have to leave it here so that somebody can use it about once a month because our number will get taken away and we lose our minutes if there is no activity for 30 days. Anyway, he had just gotten off work, but stayed until 10:00 pm just talking. We had a lot to talk about! This was fine with us since we are still in California time which is two hours earlier.

This afternoon we had a lot of calls. The pastor called. They have 10 more people to be baptized and waiting for us to be back. He decided to postpone the baptism until a week from this Sunday to give John enough time to recuperate. If you recall, he and his wife were working as caretakers of a rental property right on the beach in another town a little far form here. Well, there was a problem with one of the renters when he wasn't around, and the owner was not pleased. He wanted Pastor to be there 24/7 when there were renters. This would mean that he could not be in church most Sundays, so he decided to quit, and the owners agreed. They gave him plenty of time to find a place and move. They are nice people who just need somebody taking care of their property all the time because they live in the States. The pastor says that they ended in an amicable way, no hard feelings. He feels free now! He is an engineer anyway and has jobs that he can supervise during the week and still tend to the congregation.

Everybody wants to know about the wedding. Well, tonight we were invited to the couple's house because they are celebrating Francisco's birthday, but we couldn't go, since John is not well. They don't have a date even. I told the pastor that it is imperative that they get going if we are going to get it done within this five weeks.

Other friends called to say hi and inquire about John's health. I handled the phone calls because John was trying to take a nap. The power has been going off and on all day because it is extremely windy. This is the way it is around this time of the year. The good news is that the mosquitoes get blown away! We have not been anywhere, except for the grocery store and the clinic. It is a good time for me to rest and for John to get better. Please keep praying.

Until next time...from the beach!

WE ARE HERE!

Well, we have arrived!! We had a good trip. No major problems. The wedding dress made it. The just checked two suitcases in Customs.John left California sick. We even looked into postponing the trip,  but it was too expensive. He survived the trip, but he is light-headed today, and we haven't done much. Keep praying for his health. One friend here already called and offered help, so slowly, but surely, we will get set up and ready for work.

I will keep you post it! Until then, back at the beach...
