Prayers Answered

We couldn't go to the beach this summer because a lot of family health issues, but the Lord sent a team of 30 workers from another city here in California and they worked with two workers and a few believers from another town near the beach. Here is a report:

The 6 computers arrived safely without problems with customs or having to pay taxes. Unfortunately, with the amount of time and funding we had we weren't able to complete the classroom this week. We had a successful meeting with school personnel about plans for the completion of the classroom and the use of the computers. Looks like they might be able to get a teacher for computer classes with the kids during school hours and Christ for the City will continue to look for a missionary to teach computer classes in the afternoons and evenings for the youth and adults of the community. They finished the floor and started on the roofing but weren't quite able to get the whole roof on before they asked us to leave due to the mass being held at the school building. Carlos plans to go back and finish it up the weekend of the 9th. Several from the church in the nearby town as well as from the community also pitched in with the construction - a real team effort!!

We also had a good turn out for women's and kids activities in the afternoons and the evening events in the salon. Friday night we had a soccer game and then handed out about 200 hamburgers with potato chips and drinks. Ericka and I were able to further our relationships with many of the women and children and it seems as though some are really opening up to the things of the Lord. For example, I was encouraged by the openness and changes I saw in one of your friend and her family. Instead of direct evangelism house to house we went around in groups with fliers the first day inviting people to the activities and prayed for some of the people in their homes. I believe many were moved by this.

Ericka said something that I wanted to share with you as encouragement. I know it is really hard for you not to be here but she mentioned that all of this is for a reason. She said that maybe it was good in terms of the church and Christ for the City stepping up and taking a place and being recognized in the community. Not that you won't continue to be involved there, but your not being here has served as a hand-off to us as a constant presence in the community. I know that that is what you and your wife have always wanted and what your vision and prayer is for the community. You opened the doors and developed relationships, planted seeds and fertilized the ground and God is answering your prayers and allowing us to take the next steps. The enemy has been alive and well trying to thwart our plans, that's usually a sign that we are on the right track and doing much for the Lord. We will still do the Mother's day activity with my church group, Christ for the City and the church from the nearby town.

Please pray for the continued work there and especially for that community event.
