Our hosts: Francisco and Luz | |
|
As I mentioned before, Francisco attends church faithfully every Sunday with his three children, but his common law wife does not. We have visited them twice. It turns out that Luz accepted the Lord years ago, but she says that Francisco hasn´t. Anyway, Francisco has been building a house across the street from the property where they both live and work. The owners of the property are nationals. We met the wife and one adult daughter Monday when we went there for dinner and had a very nice visit with the owner. They are all Christians. In fact, the daughter that we met, an architect volunteered for three months at Christ for the City's home for girls in the mountains. She taught them art. I am digressing. Getting back to last night, the purpose of the meeting was that Francisco wanted to bless his house, Even though it is unfinished, he wanted a group there to pray, sing and eat a light meal together.
It started to rain as we left the house, and we had to pick up Kassandra, and another family. By the time we arrived at the house it was pouring rain. We stayed in the car for a few minutes, but it would not let up; therefore, we got out with our umbrellas, but got wet anyway. We had to go back to town to get chairs from the church and sodas from the local "pulpería," as Luz felt that she was short of sodas. The pastor made two trips back and for picking up people from the other town who had come by the local bus (Yes, there is a bus between the two towns that makes two trips a day).

We had a great time of singing and praying. The pastor talk about all houses having a door, but we have the most important door to heaven, which is Jesus. There was at least one person who had never been to church before. She was invited by Luz. One thing about this couple, they keep bringing people to the meetings. They are not shy about inviting people. After the service, we had "chalupas." Luz is from Honduras, and that is what they call what the Mexicans call "tostadas." They were excellent! She is a great cook. We ate with our fingers. One of the reasons she served chalupas was because she told me that she did not have enough silverware for everybody. By the time we left, the rain had stopped. The pastor piled about 11 people in his SUV. We took the same people that we had brought plus the chairs. It was truly a joyful evening, Francisco was so pleased!
