Only a few days left

John is coming home soon; therefore, I wanted to give one last update. It has been raining a lot. They have had five inches in just one day; therefore, there is not much to do. John has continued with the English Club. He really enjoys the kids. He's now taking seven is our SUV, but they don't take up much room. He also had the chance to meet the school principal. He got to school during recess, and the kids all ran to hug him. The principal said that she had heard the kids speaking English and asked them where they were learning it. They said "from John."

John rented a boat to go fishing, but this time they did not catch anything. The big one got away, of course. One exciting thing that happened was on the night of the Peru earthquake. Security came around asking them to evacuate to higher grounds, but the option given wasn't much higher than what we are. Anyway, John went inside and turned on the TV. It turned out that the danger had passed already!

Thank you for reading this blog and praying for us. We'll return to the beach in December, Lord willing. Until then...

English Club

"How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of those who bring the happy news of peace and salvation, the news that the God of Israel reigns." Is. 52:7

Life at the beach continues to be exciting; in spite of the fact that I am back in the States, John is still there, and English Club continues. There are about 21 - 23 kids coming faithfully on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 - 7 pm. John has a parent who helps and right now there's a friend of him spending two weeks there. He is a teacher, more about him later. We were picking up 4 kids on our way to the town hall, but now John is picking up 7. There's no need to worry about seat belts. There is no police in this town, and it is a very short distance. We have prepared a lot of lessons. They are having a good time coloring vocabulary pictures and playing Bingo.

John's friend is a surfer, and he suffered a mishap while surfing. He was hit on the ribs by his own surfboard. Please pray for healing. These old dudes don't bounce back from injuries that easily. He hasn't been able to surf again and is in a lot of pain.

One of our believer friends whom John took to church has been attending regularly. He really needed a congregation. He can go easily because he has a motorcycle, and it isn't a bad ride, if it is not raining. Pray that he will continue to attend, and that he will make Christian friends because he is rather lonely.

John is also going to have some visitors this weekend. The couple who encouraged us to start something at the beach and helped us the first time is coming to visit. It will be nice to report back to them on the many blessings that the Lord has provided.

I will continue to report what's going on at the beach until John returns at the end of August. Keep checking this site periodically. Thank you for your prayers!
