Beginnings
A couple of years ago, my husband and I decided to buy a second home by the beach. We wanted to be near a surfing spot because one of our sons likes to surf. We bought this property in a Spanish-speaking country outside the US. The place is truly gorgeous! There are a lot of things to do. There is golfing, surfing, swimming, tennis, horseback riding, hiking, or just relaxing. We enjoy the times we spend there. Our condominium has all the modern conveniences of home.
Surrounded by the beautiful scenery and friendly people, we began to look around for a place to worship, but found none. How can this be possible? We decided that it was up to us to act as catalysts to bring Christ to this nice place. We started by doing fun, social activities for the women and children of the near by town. We have coffee and refreshments and just talk. These meetings happen about three times a year. Gradually, we have become a little more formal, and, with the help of friends who reside in the capital and come to spend a few days with us each time, the meetings have expanded to about 60 children and about 40 adults. We use the town hall for these meetings with the permission of the town committee who runs it.
Next time I'll talk about our experiences...
