Last Thoughts on Chile
We left Chile yesterday. The flight over the Andes was breathtaking, but before I talk about Buenos Aires, I want to talk about lessons learned in Chile.
As usual, one is joyful to know believers in different parts of the world. It is so good to see the Lord working in far away (to us) places. We know that the Lord is at work everywhere in the world, but it is a different feeling to actually experience it. Sunday we met a girl who was in a coma for a month at 23 years old. When she woke up, she had a mind of a four-year-old. She had to learn to talk and walk all over again. By the grace of God she is now back at the university studying Math and Physic. What a testimony!
While helping with the children ministries back in Puerta del Valle, my heart ached for the young boys already flashing gang signs. How sad! But I praise the Lord that Christ for the City is there bringing the light of Christ to those children. The problem is that in La Serena there are four areas with 600 children each and no Christian work. Pray that the Lord will send more workers to these children
Our friend, the taxi driver, felt a lot better on Sunday. She called to apologize for crying. She took us to the airport on Sunday, with Helvecia and Helen, our dear friends in whose house we were staying. She stayed with all of us until we boarded. I am glad that she did not feel as badly the next day. Her car still needs repairs, but minor. Helvecia and Helen offered to pay for it.
It was a lot of fun to work with the three different churches. The buildings were different physically, but the love of the Lord shines in their lives. One church has a kids club called "Happy Hour":)
Chilean are very friendly. They always greet each other with a kiss. It is not unusual to see workers greeting each other with kisses when they arrive to work, and also when they leave.
We were treated with much love by everybody. Food was great; we mainly ate at home because Helvecia is a great cook. They (Helen and Helvecia) are coming to California in September or October, and I am going to have to work hard at my cooking!
We have left all these dear friends in the Lord's hands, knowing that even if we don't see them again in this life, we will meet in Heaven!
Until next time... No longer at the beach, but still traveling!
